Song of the Week: "Spring 0 and 1" recomposed by Max Richter

Sometimes everything just clicks. Most of the time the best we can hope for, as we meander through life, is for the friction between the cogs to be minimal, for the grinding gears to lurch, just not too often. But sometimes everything lines up, and you're no longer meandering. You're running at full speed.

This song, recomposed by Max Richter from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, does that. It's meditation through music. It slows the world around you; it sharpens the mind; it brings you to that place. Suddenly, your breathing comes into perfect line with the beat rhythm of the song. Your eyes stop blinking, except to sweep away welling tears. The song is so satisfying. The song is, dare I say, perfect.

And then it stops. And maybe it's just too short. And what are you left with?

Thoughts. Thoughts about the song that once so fascinated you fill your mind. One day thoughts are all we'll ever have. Memories of the squeaking forest that once filled springtime air. Regret that, no matter how involved in the moment you ever were, the moment simply did not last enough.
